Wellness Wednesday: The 'E' in DESTRESS—Emotional Wellbeing (Part 1) 🌿

February 25, 2026

Today, we dive into the 6th letter of the DESTRESS ProtocolE is for Emotions. So far, we’ve covered Diet (Nutrition), Exercise, Stress, Toxins, and Rest. But here is the truth: you can have the "perfect" diet and a flawless sleep routine, but if your Emotional Wellbeing is neglected, your physical health will eventually feel the weight of those "Toxic Emotions."

The Myth of 24/7 Happiness

I’m drawing some wisdom today from one of my favorite resources, Dr. Stephen Cabral and his book, The Rain Barrel Effect.

Many people believe that if they aren’t happy 24 hours a day, something is "wrong." But emotional wellbeing isn’t a flat line of bliss; it’s an ebb and flow. Ancient philosophers knew this—you cannot truly appreciate joy without understanding sadness or anger.

It is okay to have a bad day. It’s even okay to have a bad week.

When a "Bad Day" is a Win

Dr. Cabral shares a beautiful insight: When a client who is healing tells him, "I had a bad day—I felt a little down and had less energy," he often celebrates. Why? Because it means they are finally fully well again. When you get to the point where you notice a dip in energy or mood, it’s because your "new normal" is a state of high energy, happiness, and vibrancy. Feeling the contrast is actually an emotional win!

The Holistic Connection: It’s All Linked

Your emotions don't live in a vacuum. They are directly influenced by the other letters we’ve discussed:

  • Nutrition: Your gut is your "second brain"—what you eat dictates your neurotransmitters (like serotonin).
  • Movement: Exercise is one of the fastest ways to shift a stagnant emotional state.
  • Sleep: As we just learned, sleep deprivation makes us "prickly" and less resilient.

If you are feeling stuck, it’s time to look deeper at the "why" behind those feelings. Toxic underlying emotions can keep us physically stuck in a cycle of inflammation and fatigue.

Support Your Journey Step-by-Step

If you're feeling emotionally "gray" or physically depleted, sometimes the body needs a targeted boost to find its balance again.

  • Deeper Support: My favorite all-in-one protocols for balancing the body’s stress response can be found here: Equi.Life Sleep & Stress Support

Next week, we will begin to look at the 9 Toxic Emotions and how they may be affecting your physical health.

In the meantime, listen to your heart, keep making those healthy(er) choices, and remember: Always SOMETHING.

Mindset Roadblocks & The Cortisol Shift 💜🌿 April 29, 2026 Last week, we introduced the final letter of our DESTRESS Protocol: Success Mindset. We looked at how your thoughts aren't just "in your head"—they have a physical footprint in your cortisol levels and heart rate variability. Today, we are talking about the "Invisible Walls" that keep us stuck: Mental Roadblocks. Identifying Your Roadblocks A mental roadblock is an internalized "no." It’s that voice that whispers, "That works for other people, but not for me," or "I’ve always been this way." These aren't facts; they are habits of thought. Common roadblocks include: The "All-or-Nothing" Trap: "If I can't do the full workout/diet perfectly, why bother?" The "Identity" Anchor: "I’m just a high-stress person; it’s in my DNA." The "Future-Fear": "What if I do all this work and I still don't feel better?" Awareness is your "Quantum Leap." Once you see these for what they are—just thoughts—they lose their power to dictate your physical health. The Power of Positive Self-Talk Remember that Bruce Lee quote I shared recently? Your body doesn't know the difference between a joke and a decree. When you tell yourself, "I’m so tired," or "My body is failing me," your brain sends signals to your nervous system to stay in a state of defense. The Shift: Try catching yourself in a negative loop and swapping "I am" for "I am learning." Instead of: "I'm so unhealthy." Try: "I am learning how to support my body one step at a time." Daily Habits to Shift Your Cortisol You can actually "physically" nudge your mindset by lowering your cortisol through simple daily habits: The Morning Light: 10 minutes of natural light in the morning helps regulate your cortisol rhythm. The "Stop-and-Sigh": Throughout the day, take a deep breath and let out a long, audible sigh. This signals to your vagus nerve that you are safe. Language Check: Before bed, name three things you did well for your health that day, no matter how small. Success Mindset Essentials Shifting your mindset is hard work when your body is running on "empty." We have to support the biology to free up the psychology. Lower the Noise: If your mind is racing, your body likely needs calming support. My top recommendation for balancing that "wired" feeling is the Sleep & Stress Support formula . Your Daily Toolkit: Find the professional-grade supplements that support a resilient nervous system on my Shop Page . Next week , we are going to get even more personal. I’ll be sharing specific journaling prompts to help you dig deep and uncover the specific roadblocks that might be standing in your way. 👉 Ready to break through the walls? Wellness Wednesday: Energy, Mind, and Your Physiology 💜🌿 Part 5 March 25, 2026 Last week, we walked through some thought-provoking questions about body image, self-talk, and your belief in your own healing. I’m sure those gave you a moment of pause! Quick Review: Do you believe you can improve your health? What is your current body image, and do you believe you can change it? Is your self-talk positive and building you up, or is it negative? While these are vital questions, what matters even more is how you felt while answering them. Did your energy dip, or did you feel a spark of empowerment? Because your mind and body are so intimately connected, your psychology affects your physiology. When you change your mind, you truly begin to change your life. If you feel like you’ve "tried it all" or that "poor genetics" have left you stuck, I want you to know how amazing you truly are. You are not a victim of your biology—you are the architect of it. Support Your Physiological Shift Shifting your mindset is easier when your nervous system isn't in a state of "dis-ease." Calm the Internal Noise: To help lower the "static" of stress while you do this mental work, I highly recommend the Sleep & Stress Support formula . Wellness Wednesday: The Power of Thought & The Overwhelm Trap 💜🌿 Part 4

Wellness Wednesday: Unpacking the Final Toxic Emotions 💜🌿 Part 3 March 11, 2026 Last week, we began identifying the first five of the nine toxic emotions that can hold us back from a quality-filled life. Today, we cover the final four. As you read through these, ask yourself if you are holding onto any of these "life-sucking" emotions. Remember: Awareness is the first step. In my practice, I call that awareness a "quantum leap" toward healing! The Final Four Guilt: Are you living as your authentic self, or are you living based on others' expectations? Whether it's pressure from social circles, work, or family, allow yourself to be YOU , and the guilt will naturally fade. Shame: This often ties into guilt. Hear this: No one can make you feel shame unless you accept their vision of who you "should" be. When you respect yourself and live a life you are proud of, shame becomes a non-issue. Anxiety: Are you stuck in the past or fearing the future? This is your opportunity to wake up and be present. Take a moment every day to express gratitude for who you are and what you have. Sadness: Sadness is a natural part of the human experience, but staying in that state long-term affects your physical health. Feel the feelings, then bring your mind back to the "now." How can you learn from the situation and move forward into balance? Physical Support for Emotional Healing Processing these heavy emotions takes a toll on your nervous system. When you are emotionally taxed, your body depletes its stores of vital nutrients like Magnesium and Vitamin B. Calm the Storm: My favorite all-in-one support for those feeling the weight of anxiety or sadness is the Sleep & Stress Support formula . Foundational Wellness: You can find the high-quality, professional-grade supplements I trust for daily resilience on my Shop Page . Until next week, keep making those healthy(er) choices! 👉 Ready to take your own quantum leap? Book your FREE consultation here . Hugs and Health, Lisa
